Middle School - Laura Willcox
1. How do your proposed strategies (Week 8 Step 6) meet the required standards as your Week 6 Step 4 stated?
When I set up my plan, I started by reviewing the plan that was already in place, interviewing administrators and staff about their knowledge about the plan and the success and failures of the plan. We discussed what needed to be changed in the plan and then I went to work on improving the plan on their suggestions.
The strategies I proposed are based on The Long-Term Technology Plan, E-Rate funding, and requirements set forth by NCLB.
2. Review the reading materials in Technology domain to propose using other standards which are not adopted by your studied school. Explain why those new standards should be considered for your studied school.
§ Teachers networking with other teachers, social networking has become so popular and this is a great way for teacher to exchange ideas.
§ Online teaching and learning – A great way to implement professional development
§ Closing the technology gap – every educator does not have the same level of technology education as next educator or even the students. Teachers just coming out of college will be more tech savvy then those of us that have been out of school for a while.
All of these standards will benefit the teacher’s knowledge base, therefore benefiting the student. The more the teacher knows the more he/she can share and education the students he/she comes in contact with.

Laura, can you elaborate question 2 to include the proposed standards from your reviewed literatures? Thanks!
Laura,
For your teachers to network, have you looked into Edmodo for them to be able to share ideas and resources?

The LRTP reports on the success and purpose of Project Share. It is a “collection of Web 2.0 tools and applications that provide high quality professional development in an interactive and engaging learning environment. “(Texas Education Agency, 2010) It also gives educators the opportunity to join “professional learning communities, participate in professional development courses, explore content repositories, and use online instructional materials.” ” (Texas Education Agency, 2010)
TF-V Productivity and Professional Practice
Educational technology facilitators apply technology to enhance and improve personal productivity and professional practice. Educational technology facilitators:
A. Use technology resources to engage in ongoing professional development and lifelong learning. Candidates:
1. identify resources and participate in professional development activities and professional technology organizations to support ongoing professional growth related to technology.
2. disseminate information on district-wide policies for the professional growth opportunities for staff, faculty, and administrators.
D. Use technology to communicate and collaborate with peers, parents, and the larger community to nurture student learning. Candidates:
2. communicate with colleagues and discuss current research to support instruction, using application including electronic mail, online conferencing, and Web browsers.

The Texas Campus STaR Chart provides information regarding a campus’ status toward achieving the Long-Range Plan for Technology and (LRPT) and No Child Left Behind. The most recent data has shown that the majority of Texas teachers and campuses evaluate themselves as being either Developing or Advanced Tech in Teaching and Learning. A new standard for Anahuac ISD campus would be to have all employees reach the Target Tech which is the highest level of the STaR chart. “The recommendations in the Texas Long-Range Plan for Technology, 2006-2020 support these 21st Century learning opportunities—opportunities that would not be possible without the technology” (Texas Education Agency, 2010). The ISTE standards that would be integrated into the technology plan and goals of AISD would be as such:
TF-I Technology Operations and Concepts

2. provide assistance to teachers in identifying technology systems, resources, and services to meet specific learning needs.

Deborah,
Yes I have looked at Edmondo and I think that would be a great suggestion for our district.
